Experience No Pain While Treatment | Eternal Hospital
No matter which body part is hit by a medical condition, pain is a constant in all of them. It is because of pain only, we consult a specialist. When it comes to the treatment, there may be more pain suffered by the patient. To deal with this issue, there is anesthesia. With the help of anesthesia, patient is not able to feel any movement of sensation in the part where it is administered. The branch of medicine which deals with anesthesia is known as anesthesiology. Eternal Hospital is known for its anaesthesiology treatment in India.
Anesthesiology allows safe usage of medical drugs to induce a reversible state of total or partial lack of responsiveness to surgical procedures. This is done so that the treatment can be carried out smoothly without any discomfort to the patient. When it comes to complex surgeries or where there is no hundred percent surety of the procedure to be accurate, a consent form is signed by the patient before anesthesia is administered.
There are different types of anesthesia which doctors, surgeons and anaesthesiologists in India use separately or in combination depending on the procedure –
1. General Anesthesia – General anesthesia is a medically induced coma which is different to the state of sleep. The drugs provided to the patient make them unresponsive and unconscious. Under the influence of general anesthesia, patient does not feel any pain and may also suffer from amnesia. There are risks involved but is generally a safe procedure.
2. Regional Anesthesia – It is the use of local anesthesia to make a specific part of the body numb to relieve pain and allow the procedure to take place. Some of the major types of regional anesthesia include peripheral nerve blocks, epidural and spinal anesthesia etc.
3. Local Anesthesia – It is administered to a part of the body so that it can become numb for a short period of time. It is used for minor procedures which are done quickly and the patient does not need to stay overnight.
Anesthesia works by stopping the nerve signals that keep you awake and aware reaching the brain. After the effect of the anesthesia has worn off, the nerve signals will be able to reach your brain and your consciousness will return. It can be given in a number of ways such as ointment, spray, drops or as an injection into a vein or as a gas you breathe in.
