Dr. Rajeev Gupta

Dr Rajeev Gupta is Chair of Medicine and Preventive Cardiology at Eternal Heart Care Centre & Research Institute, Mount Sinai New York Affiliate, Jaipur; Co-Chair, Academic Research Development Unit, Rajasthan University of Health Sciences, Jaipur; Honorary Professor of Medicine at Mahatma Gandhi University of Medical Sciences and Technology, Jaipur; and a Consultant Physician & Cardiologist. He has been a Board Member of the World Heart Federation (Geneva) and President of the Indian Society of Hypertension. He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, European Society of Cardiology, Royal College of Physicians (UK), and many learned societies. 

He is a pioneer in cardiovascular epidemiology and preventive cardiology in India; a member of the steering committees of major epidemiological studies, including PURE, Jaipur Heart Watch, India Heart Watch, etc.; a principal collaborator with Global Burden of Diseases and NCDRisC studies; and continues to be a member of multiple Project Approval Committees of the Indian Council of Medical Research. He has received financial grants from major Indian (ICMR, DST, DBT, etc.) and international (NIH-NHLBI, NIH-NIDDK, etc.) funding agencies. He has 1200+ scientific publications, including 800+ original articles and reviews in major medical journals such as The Lancet, New England Journal of Medicine, Nature, JAMA, JACC, and BMJ; 125+ book chapters; and 5 books. He has 340,000+ citations on Google Scholar with an H-index of 175, and is the most-cited medical author from India. The impact factor of his publications has consistently placed him among the top 0.1% of global scientists. 

He has been an invited speaker at international conferences of the European Society of Cardiology, American College of Cardiology, World Heart Federation, International Society of Hypertension, European Society of Hypertension, and International Diabetes Federation. He has received the Rajasthan University-Sawai Man Singh Gold Medal (1976), Pfizer Postgraduate Award (1979), CSI-DP Basu Award (1994), ICMR-Chaturvedi Memorial Award (1997), CSI-VV Shah NSPHERE Oration (2000), Lancet-European Society of Cardiology Lecture (2019), CSI-Umarani Banerjea Oration (2022), and invited lectures at the University of Oxford, UK and Mount Sinai, New York. As a teacher at various institutions, he has guided scores of MD/DNB (Medicine) and PhD students at the National Board of Examinations and the University of Rajasthan. He is the current Editor of the RUHS Journal of Health Sciences and Associate Editor of the American Journal of Preventive Cardiology.
