Symptoms of Urinary tract infection (UTI): 
Anyone can suffer from a urinary tract infection. Mostly, adults suffer from urinary tract infection but children also suffer from the same problem due to different health reasons. Children usually face pain while urinating after a few drops, this might be due to a variety of reasons. A lot of children also face problems with urine control due to which they often wet the bed. Some signs of UTI:

  • Foul smell in the urine
  • Pain while urination
  • Feeling of urinating without even passing urine.

  • Need to urinate more than usual.

Causes: 
Urine usually does not have bacterial growth but in case of an infection bacterial growth is high. Bacteria grow around the skin, rectal area and in the stools in very large numbers. In severe cases, the growth of the bacterial grows up to the urinary bladder. Bacteria multiply until its get treated. The infection occurs mainly in kidney and bladder. Excessive bacterial growth causes swelling in the bladder which can infect kidneys, further causing various kidney diseases.
Diagnosis: 
A paediatric urologist usually diagnoses the child by physical examination. They ask    questions to know the severity of their condition.  They also look for family history and the child’s past medical records for better understanding of the disease.  Child specialists are specially trained to handle the children in every condition. They try to make the child calm for which they use a lot of tactics; they even play to calm in order to treat them.

  • CT scan of the urinary tract

Treatment:

  • Paediatric Radiology: Paediatric radiology includes CT scan, Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Cystogram, ultrasound, and urethrogram. 
  • Paediatric urodynamics: It is used to evaluate the contraction and pressure of bladder and sphincter muscles.
