Timely Treatment of Heart Attack in Rural Areas
The matters of heart should be dealt immediately and carefully. It is considered as the most important organ in our body. The role of heart in our body is to pump blood throughout the body and provide oxygen and nutrients to the tissues. There are various disorders and diseases that can hamper the working of normal functioning of our heart. One of the most critical in this case is heart attack. Heart attack is a medical emergency which occurs when blood flow to heart is blocked. This happens due to a blood clot. Our heart is a muscle just like any other. It survives when oxygen is given. But when there will be no blood, the tissue will die. The treatment of heart attack depends on the severity of the case. In urban areas, there are various different hospitals to give the desirable treatment. But rural areas do not get the same provisions. Eternal hospital has launched Rajasthan Heart Attack Treatment Programme (RAHAT) medical project in Rajasthan to provide quick treatment to stroke patients in remote areas.
As the name suggests, it is a STEMI (heart attack) management telemedicine platform that captures and transmits patient’s EKG along with clinical history from remote geographical locations to heart command centre (HCC) – Hub. It is very important to know about STEMI so that there can be awareness about this dangerous condition. It is a very serious type of heart attack which is caused by the complete blockage of the heart artery.
STEMI stands for ST-elevation myocardial infarction. Here, ST elevation refers to a particular pattern on an EKG heart tracing and myocardial infarction is the medical term for a heart attack. It is usually associated with a disease process known as atherosclerosis. Patients who experiences acute STEMI are at risk for developing life-threatening arrhythmias like ventricular fibrillation which causes sudden cardiac arrest sometimes referring as a massive heart attack. It is accompanied with chest pain, discomfort, shortness of breath, palpitations, nausea, vomiting, lightheadedness etc.
The initiative of Rajasthan Heart Attack Treatment program was taken by Eternal Hospital to helps and assist people from rural areas to get treatment as soon as possible. Under this treatment, patients will get immediate ambulance and telemedicine service when they suffer a stroke. On the way to the nearest hospital, basic treatment would be provided to the patient in the ambulance. And the details of the treatment will be shared through tele-consultation with the experts at HCC.
This prestigious project was launched by Rajasthan’s Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje on 25th Februrary and launched by Eternal hospital. In her address, she also stated that these projects will only enhance the medical services in the state and new heights will be touched in medical and healthcare center while helping humanity. In addition, she also inaugurated an ambulance which is fitted with equipment and trained paramedical staff required for treatment of heart disease. Under this special project, rural villages which are around 100 kms from the city of Jaipur will be covered.
For this project, Eternal hospital management have formed a special team members who visit the location and transmit medical details of the patient along with the information of the EKG to the Hub of Heart Command Centre (HCC) and medication tips will be then provided. By creating awareness and imparting proper medical facilities, death rates due to the heart attack can be reduced a lot.
The founder of this special medical project for cardiac arrest is Dr. Sameer Mehta. According to him, the facilities offered under RAHAT project would be helpful for the rural areas which are located around Jaipur city and this project will surely lower the rate of death occurred due to heart attacks in near future.
Eternal Hospital is the pioneer in developing RAHAT treatment protocol for acute heart attacks (STEMI) in Rajasthan. This state of the art protocol is an established strategy for the treatment of all acute heart attacks in developed countries but we are the first to bring it in Rajasthan. This project is fully backed by Dr. Samin K. Sharma.
