Managing Heart Attack with Ease - RAHAT Program

Heart is one of those whose role in the body is one of the most critical. It provides body with blood which further gives oxygen and nutrients to the body. If there is something wrong with the heart for even a minute then our body will be in huge trouble. One of the conditions related to the heart is heart attack. It is the condition in which there is death of a segment of the heart muscle. It is caused by a loss of blood supply. This causes chest pain and electrical instability of the heart muscle tissue. A blood clot is formed in a heart attack. There are different treatments of heart attack and it depends on the severity of the condition. If you are living in urban areas, then you have a lot of means to treat yourself. There are a number of hospitals which are ready to treat and accessing these places is not a problem. But when it comes to rural areas, all of these things are different. The facilities are not there for people living in villages and remote areas. To make sure that this problem was eradicated, RAHAT program in Rajasthan was started by Eternal hospital.

Rajasthan Heart Attack Treatment Programme (RAHAT) is a medical program which is an initiative of Eternal Hospital along with the government of Rajasthan to provide quick treatment to stroke patients in remote areas. STEMI is an abbreviated version for ST-Elevated Myocardial Infraction and is a very serious type of heart attack in which one of the heart’s major arteries is blocked. It is one of the arteries that supplies oxygen and nutrient-rich blood to the heart muscle. ST-segment elevation is an abnormally detected on the 12 lead ECG. It is generally associated with a disease process known as atherosclerosis. Patient who have acute STEMI are at risk of developing life threatening arrhythmias like ventricular fibrillation which causes sudden cardiac arrest which is also known as massive heart attack.

RAHAT as the name suggests is a STEMI (heart attack) management telemedicine platform that captures and transmits patient’s EKG along with clinical history from remote geographical locations to heart command centre (HCC) – Hub. It is a dangerous disease which should be known by everyone so that preventive steps are taken. It is a very serious type of heart attack which is caused by the complete blockage of the artery. It is accompanied with chest pain, discomfort, shortness of breath, palpations, nausea, vomiting and lightheadedness.

RAHAT is an initiative taken by Eternal hospital to help people from rural areas to get treatment as soon as possible. Eternal is one of the leading private hospitals in Jaipur who thought about the well being of rural people and provide immediate help to them. In this treatment procedure, whenever a patient from rural area suffers a stroke, immediate ambulance and telemedicine services will be provided to the patient so that the problem is not worsened due to loss of time. As they are on the way to the hospital, basic and necessary treatment will be provided to the patient in the ambulance. The details of the treatment will be shared through tele-communication with the experts who are present at HCC.

To make sure that this project is a success and first priority for all, special team members are assigned who visit the location and transmit medical details of the patient along with the information of the EKG to the hub of the Heart Command Centre. And medication tips will then be provided accordingly. Death rate due to heart attack can be reduced by a lot just by creating proper awareness and imparting proper medical facilities.

The prestigious project of RAHAT in Jaipur was started by Rajasthan’s Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje on 25th February and launched with the help of Eternal Hospital. While addressing the media and general public, she reassured that these projects will enhance the medical services in the state and new heights will be touched in medical and healthcare center. This special project will cover the villages around 100 km from the city of Jaipur.

Eternal Hospital started this much needed service to help people who are not living in the vicinity of medical institutions. Any heart attack related issue will be solved under the RAHAT programme with immediate response and services.

Eternal Hospital’s team of expert cardiologists at HCC-Hub provides immediate EKG interpretation and real time STEMI guidance. This state of the art treatment protocol makes us the pioneer in Rajasthan in developing this treatment protocol for acute heart attacks (STEMI).
